Turmeric is one of the most popular spices, is widely used in many traditions and said to be incredibly healthy. The root stem of the tropical plant is part of the ginger family. Used in cooking for curries, mustards, etc. One of the main ingredients of the spice is an element called curcumin which has potentially healing properties, but is that curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body, so you wouldn’t eat turmeric in a meal alone.

Turmeric is mildly fragrant and has aromas of orange or ginger. It has a pungent, bitter flavor.

The Colour of Tumreric

Termed the “golden spice” is between a bright yellow and deep orange colour. It can easily stain avoid getting it on clothing.

Anti-inflammation

Inflammation is the body’s normal response to injury or infection, causing swelling and inflamation to protect the area. Inflammation of the joints, including stiffness and swelling are symptoms of arthritis. Herbs and spices can have a anti-inflammatory effect of the body when mixed with other foods and spices, certain foods have been identified as anti-inflammatory.

Turmeric can relieve pain and inflammation without the side effects that manufactured medications like NSAIDs can cause, such as internal bleeding, ulcers, and reduced white blood cell count.
