Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults in the UK. Our Ealing 5k Family Fun Run/2.5k Walk is taking place soon and all profits will go to the Ealing Multiple Sclerosis Society. MS is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults in the UK. 100,000 people are diagnosed in the UK each year. Symptoms vary from numbness and muscle spasms to loss of vision and paralysis in some cases. Currently, there’s no cure.
The Ealing MS Society is a voluntary organisation that exists to raise awareness of MS. We use our funds to support people living with MS in the borough of Ealing, some of whom are quite isolated and vulnerable. We offer grants for mobility aids, household adaptations, accessible transport and outings. We also organise branch outings and socials for our members. We rely on local people and businesses to help make our events successful. We’ve had some very generous donations to our goody bags, which each runner will receive. There will also be a hamper from As Nature Intended, worth £80, for the person who raises the most sponsorship. There will also be a spot prize, for a child, of an hour’s party, courtesy of children’s entertainer Lynsey Adler, from Partpopperz. People can choose to do either the 5k running route or 2.5k walking route.
